New Direction

In 2003, the leadership of CBR looked enthusiastically to the future of the Ranch. Given CBR’s performance and commitment to excellence, the CBR board, president and staff leadership team felt confident that the organization could serve many more youth and families in more communities across the nation. Out of this planning emerged an expanded vision and a new name that would reflect our national and international mission and scope.

The word “connect” was specially chosen. The name YouthConnect accurately reflects the purpose and identity of CBR: connecting youth and their families with the knowledge, relationships, and resources they need to become hopeful, productive citizens. CBR YouthConnect is now the name for Colorado Boys Ranch.

It has been said, “The giant oak is just an acorn that held its ground.” CBR began like the acorn. Resiliency has been a trademark characteristic of CBR since its inception. That attribute, along with unwavering commitment to its core values, will allow CBR YouthConnect to grow into a giant oak offering strength and stability into the future.

Knowledge gained from its cutting-edge research and innovative and effective programs will be shared through professional and scientific exchange, and advocacy efforts. With strong roots and a clear vision for the future, the organization is steadfastly committed to its mission of providing troubled youth with the means to successfully fulfill their greatest potential.
